Opals are the most common collectible item in the game, found nearly everywhere in the outback. Beginning in Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, Opals were merely part of the collection. In Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue and Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 3: Night of the Quinkan, Opals are used to purchase other items in the game, including boomerangs, Bunyip keys, extra paws, and entry into kart races. In Ty The Tasmanian Tiger, Opals appear in different colors, such as red, blue, and green whereas in Ty2 and Ty3 the Opals only appear in red.

Not much is known about the history of Opals, only that they are found almost everywhere, and can be collected and used to purchase other items.

  • In Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue, Opals began to be used as currency, and the money sign for Opals was a circle with two horizontal lines through the middle.
  • Opals are mainly found in wooden crates throughout the series.
